  2. The Line Between Fact and Fiction. Journalists should report the truth. Who would deny it? But such a statement does not get us far enough, for it fails to distinguish nonfiction from other forms of expression. Novelists can reveal great truths about the human condition, and so can poets, film makers and painters.

  3. Fact refers to information that is based on evidence, research, and can be proven to be true. It is objective and relies on concrete data and verifiable sources. On the other hand, fiction refers to imaginative or invented stories that are not based on real events or people.
