Feb 19, 1987 · FAREWELL MOSCOW is the sort of Stanley Kramer "serious" cinema that by the '80s had been relegated to TV movies, and not surprisingly this one was backed by RAI. It deals in harrowing detail with the Soviet government's persecution of Ida Nudel, a Jewish activist who refused to knuckle under when her loved ones managed to get exit visas and leave their beloved Russia, but she was denied for trumped-up reasons.
Movie Info An astronomer (Liv Ullmann) loses her family and suffers in Siberia as an exiled Jewish dissident in the Soviet Union.

Based on true events during the Reagen-era the movie concerns the Farewell Dossier, in which French intelligence let U.S. personnel know about a major Soviet spy operation. That set off a chain of events which led to Soviet advances being halted and even the 1982 explosion of the trans-Siberian pipeline. 3.75 / 5 stars (4 users)

Farewell is a 2009 French espionage thriller film directed by Christian Carion, starring Guillaume Canet and Emir Kusturica. The film is loosely based on the actions of the high-ranking KGB official, Vladimir Vetrov. It was released in the United States in June 2010. It was adapted from the book Bonjour Farewell: La vérité sur la taupe française du KGB by Serguei Kostine.
As topical today as it was when it was first published, Moscow Farewell is a spellbinding story of a young American man's sexual awakening in Moscow during the Cold War.
