Flora Benson. Flora Amussen Benson (July 1, 1901 – August 14, 1992) was the wife of Ezra Taft Benson, the 13th president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), and mother of Reed Benson, political activist. Flora Amussen was the daughter of jeweler Carl Christian Amussen and his wife, Barbara McIsaac Smith.

Aug 15, 1992 · Flora Smith Amussen Benson, wife of President Ezra Taft Benson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, passed away Friday, Aug. 14, 1992. She was 91. An LDS Church spokesman said Sister Benson passed away peacefully about 11:30 p.m. at her home of causes incident to age. He said her condition had begun to weaken the past couple of days.
Flora Smith Amussen Benson was the wife of Ezra Taft Benson, thirteenth president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Flora was born on July 1, 1901, in Logan, Utah. Her father, Carl Christian Amussen was a Danish jeweler, watchmaker, dentist, and businessman. He died when Flora was only fifteen months old (he was seventy-seven).
