"Perestroika" is the tenth and final episode of the fourth season of For All Mankind. It was released on Apple TV+ on January 12, 2024.

Season finale. Tensions on Earth and Mars come to a head.

Two months earlier, during a geological mission, Helios engineer Frank Tuttle discovers a wrench sticking out of the sand. Investigating, he pull it up and finds a North Korean pistol buried beneath. He manages to smuggle it back to Happy Valley and hiding it in his locker.

In late 2003, the spacecraft Ranger is on the homeward leg of their mission. They are pulling the asteroid Goldilocks. Palmer James is monitoring Samantha Massey, but has to leave to monitor the preparations for their burn. The intent is to burn for 20 minutes, in order to slow the asteroid enough to benefit from a gravity assistW around Mars, on their way to Earth. Before Palmer leaves, he asks Maximus Taylor to look for anything unusual, a pointed remark about Massey. Commander Ravi Vaswani radios Happy Valley to inform them that the ion engine deactivation is complete, and they are set to use their plasma engines for the final burn. Danielle Poole in Ops-Com confirms the deactivation, and informs them that they should wait for the next authentication for the final burn. Dev Ayesa watches on, while communicating through morse code with Ghost Ops located four levels below. Ed Baldwin receives the message and orders the conspirators to send their own authentication. There are now only 2 hours and 4 minutes until the final burn.

Outside Ghost Ops, Lee Jung-Gil is monitoring North Korean commander Cho Byung Ho. Lee believes he needs to take Cho to the medical bay. Gerardo Ortiz-Niño disagrees, because Cho has seen their faces and will report them if he wakes up. Holly Edmondson says that if they keep him there, he could die. Ed agrees with Lee, but after Gerardo disagrees again, Lee volunteers to take him himself, passing it off as an accident with a cargo loader. Gerardo is still worried about Cho reporting them, but Ed says to cross that bridge when it happens. Before Lee leaves, Ed speaks to him in Korean, letting him know it will be okay.

Miles Dale is in the midst of being tortured by KGB and CIA agents Timur Avilov and Mike Bishop. He refuses to talk, keeping to his story of not knowing about Ghost Ops. They do not believe him though. The two agents begin to talk to him about the effects of carbon dioxide poisoning, while pulling out a control pad and oxygen masks. They place the masks on and increase the carbon dioxide levels in the room. Miles begins to get light headed and finds it hard to breathe. He still refuses to talk. After he throws up, pieces landing on Timur's shoes. Avilov punches him, and Bishop says that it isn't working. The levels are then lowered, but not before Miles says he just wants to be back with his family.

At the Cobb Space Center, Margo Madison is sleeping off a hangover on her sofa. She is woken by knocking from NASA administrator Eli Hobson's assistant Tim, because she is needed in Eli's office. She walks into the office to discover Roscosmos director Irina Morozova sitting with Eli. Margo is surprised to find Irina. Eli calls it a nice surprise, while making small talk about his previous meetings with Irina. Margo is shaken by the sight of Irina. She complains that she has found it hard to settle in, due to being followed everywhere she goes. Irina says that she won't need to endure it much longer, because they will both be back to Star City as soon as the mission is complete.

Margo visits Mission Control and asks Aleida Rosales to get a message to Sergei Nikulov, due to Irina's presence, telling him to leave Houston. Aleida has not heard from him since the previous night and he is not answering his phone. Margo sends her to meet with him in person and force him to leave the city.
