Frances Marion Dee (November 26, 1909 – March 6, 2004) was an American actress. Her first film was the musical Playboy of Paris (1930). She starred in the film An American Tragedy (1931). She is also known for starring in the 1943 Val Lewton psychological horror film I Walked With a Zombie.
Frances Dee was a beautiful and versatile actress who starred in comedies, dramas and Westerns with Maurice Chevalier, Katharine Hepburn and Joel McCrea. She retired in 1953 and devoted herself to her family and ranching until her death in 2004.

Frances Dee. Actress: I Walked with a Zombie. Dee was born in Los Angeles, where her Army officer father was stationed, and grew up in Chicago after her father was transferred there. In 1929, he was re-assigned to L.A., and, as a lark, the 19 year old Dee began working in motion pictures as an extra.
