The Bonham-Carter family are the descendants of John Bonham-Carter (1788–1838). He was the son of Sir John Carter (born before 20 December 1741 – 18 May 1808, sometime Mayor of Portsmouth , himself a son of John Carter, a merchant).
He is married to Katherine Julian Dawnay. They have four sons: Arthur Thomas Patrick, Christopher Ruan (born March 1999), Stanley Peter and Frank Douglas. Bonham-Carter was educated at Glenalmond College, and graduated in 1992 from the University of St Andrews with a degree in classics.

Crispin Daniel Bonham-Carter (born 23 September 1969 in Colchester, Essex) is an English actor, theatre director, and educator. He was appointed Assistant Head at the Queen Elizabeth's School, Barnet, in 2019. [1] . His best known acting role is that of Mr. Bingley in the 1995 television miniseries Pride and Prejudice.
