Gellért Hill (Hungarian: Gellért-hegy; German: Kelenberg, Osterberg or Blocksberg; Latin: Mons Sancti Gerhardi Turkish: Gürz İlyas Bayırı) is a 235 m (771 ft) high hill overlooking the Danube in Budapest, Hungary. It is located in the 1st and the 11th districts. The hill was named after Saint Gerard who was thrown to death from the hill.

Oct 15, 2023 · Since 1987, Gellert Hill has been a UNESCO World Heritage site, together with the “banks of the Danube”; also Buda Castle Hill, Pest downtown and Andrassy Avenue are protected. Nowadays, it is a pleasant place to spend a few hours exploring – and the closest place to Budapest downtown for a hike.
From the Gellért Hill you can enjoy a stunning view of Budapest, with almost all major attractions possible to see (for example the Parliament, Chain Bridge, Stephens Basilica, the Castle, Matthias Church, Big Market Hall and the Heroes Square… though quite hard to see as it is far away).
