Our College was founded in 1567 by Pope Pius V, born Antonio Ghislieri, for young people of modest economic possibilities but gifted with talent. He subsequently destined a vast land patrimony to the College, as to guarantee its economic independence that still lasts today, and he ordered a palace to be built to lodge the students.
