I went to see the movie in theaters and it was about 50/50 hardcore Godzilla fans and average movie goers looking for a summer blockbuster. I know it was 50/50 because the second this scene happened, exactly half the audience just continued to watch in standard awe and the other half of the audience (including me) got visibly hyped, like practically jumping out of our seats to cheer.
