By the time you read this Guild Music’s Golden Age Of Light Music series will be celebrating its second birthday and number 23 volumes containing no fewer than 537 historic recordings, most of which have never been on CD before.
It’s at this juncture that sanity is restored, first by Robert Farnon and his beautiful performance of Kern’s Can I Forget You and then by Morton Gould’s version of My Ship, with especially subtle and effective wind writing. These two effortlessly outshine the others for taste and clarity of thought.

Honours. Robert Farnon received a Grammy Award in 1996 in addition to four Ivor Novello Awards. The Golden Age Of Light Music: Percy Faith, Upon Special Request (180g) Sir Ernest MacMillan and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra premiered his first symphony, Symphonic Suite (1938), in 1941.
