Gunpowder 5/11: The Greatest Terror Plot plot On November 5, 1605, a group of Roman Catholics led by Guy Fawkes attempted an assassination attempt on the King of England. Gunpowder was placed in the cellars of Westminster and then the king and his family were to be killed.
