Jed Cooper (Clint Eastwood) is accused by nine men of killing one of their neighbors and stealing his cattle. When he fails to convince them of his innocence, they hang him. Fortunately, there is U.S. Marshal Dave Bliss (Ben Johnson), who is in the area, and saves Cooper, who is then brought to Fort Grant for trial.

As was the case with the Italian Westerns, "Hang 'em High" is a revenge story. Eastwood is strung up by a lynching mob, led by Begley. But he's cut down and vows to revenge himself.
Synopsis. In Oklahoma in 1889 rancher Jed Cooper is hanged and left for dead by a nine-man lynch mob who believe him guilty of murder and cattle-rustling. After being saved by a passerby, Jed is exonerated and then appointed deputy marshal by Judge Adam Fenton.
Overview. Marshall Jed Cooper survives a hanging, vowing revenge on the lynch mob that left him dangling. To carry out his oath for vengeance, he returns to his former job as a lawman.
