Apr 13, 2021 · About Happy, Texas. Happy is a small town in the Texas Panhandle, located about 36 miles south of central Amarillo on the Randall-Swisher county line. From Lubbock, it's about 88 miles to the north. 678 residents call Happy home (according to the 2010 census), but we only saw a few on our short trip there.

Oct 8, 1999 · There is a moment early in "Happy, Texas" when an escaped convict looks at a roomful of 5-year-old beauty pageant contestants and asks them if they know the words to "Ninety-Nine Bottles of Beer on the Wall." They stare at him with curiosity. After all, he is the out-of-town pageant consultant, hired to prepare them for the Little Miss Fresh-Squeezed Pre-Teen Beauty Pageant.
