A former acting teacher, New Yorker Gould matured into a popular and dependable character actor familiar from roles in such films as The Sting (1973), The Front Page (1974) and Love & Death (1975) as well as popular television series including Rhoda (1974-78), Soap (1977) and The Golden Girls (1985-92).
