    It is the capital and largest city of the province of Limburg in the Flemish Region. As of 1 August 2023, Hasselt had a total population of 80,846. [2] The old town of Hasselt is surrounded by a number of satellite hamlets including Kiewit, Runkst, Banneauxwijk, Godsheide and Rapertingen.
