Heidi is a 1968 American made-for-TV film version of the 1880 novel of the same name by Johanna Spyri which debuted on November 17, 1968 on NBC. It starred actress Jennifer Edwards, stepdaughter of Julie Andrews and daughter of Blake Edwards, in the title role, alongside Maximilian Schell, Jean Simmons, and Michael Redgrave.

Heidi is an orphaned girl initially raised by her aunt Dete in Maienfeld, Switzerland. In order to get a job in Frankfurt, Dete brings 5-year-old Heidi to her grandfather, who has been at odds with the villagers for years and lives in seclusion on the alm.
Young orphan Heidi (Jennifer Edwards) is left to live with her estranged grandfather (Sir Michael Redgrave), who lives like a hermit in the Swiss Alps. While he is cold and distant at first, he grows to love and cherish her, until he's faced with choosing her well-being over his own heart.
