Helen Horton (November 21, 1923 – 2009) was an American actress who provided the voice of "Mother" in the 1979 film Alien. Other notable films Horton appeared in include Phase IV (1974) and Superman III (1983). She died in 2009 in England.
Anyone would be excited, of course - but playing this role is particularly poignant for me, because I'm stepping into the shoes of a friend and colleague: the late Helen Horton, who played the role of Mother in the 1979 film, Alien. Helen was from Chicago but, like me, made her home in the UK.
