Better known as Ricky Gervais' sidekick ("Extras," "Life's Too Short," "The Ricky Gervais Show"), Stephen Merchant stars in his first comedy series lead role, portraying awkward web designer Stuart, an Englishman who relocates to Los Angeles in search of sunshine, VIP parties and maybe even the woman of his dreams. Stuart is able to find a lot of sunshine, but his romantic aspirations far outreach his looks or appeal. Full of charm -- and desperation -- the gawky expat doggedly hits the glitzy LA nightlife with pals Wade, who reluctantly re-enters the dating world after a separation from his wife, and Kives, a paraplegic who uses his disability to his advantage in picking up women.
