Description. Hendricks Park is Eugene's oldest city park. Its 80 acres includes a world-renowned rhododendron garden and a native plant garden. Laced with paths and the northern terminus of the 12-mile Ridgeline Trail, the park is a haven for hikers, birders, and others who enjoy retreating to the tranquility of nature.
Hendricks Park is a Eugene gem, and a beautiful place to visit any time of the year. April and May are prime time to visit the gorgeous rhodedendron gardens. It is also a lovely place for a picnic, or a hike along the numerous forested trails. It is a peaceful place, with towering Douglas Fir Trees.

The Friends of Hendricks Park help to protect and maintain Eugene’s oldest city park. Located on the ridgeline to the east of the University of Oregon, Hendricks Park was established in 1906.
Hendricks Park is the oldest city park in Eugene, Oregon, United States. The 78-acre (320,000 m 2) park is a little over a mile away from the University of Oregon campus, and contains mature forest, a 12-acre (4.9 ha) rhododendron garden, and a native plant garden. The park is laced with trails suitable for hiking, jogging, and birding.

The Friends of Hendricks Park are very excited to announce the publication of “The Story of Hendricks Park”. It is a 100 page history of Eugene’s oldest park and contains many beautiful historical illustrations and color photos, stories, vignettes, Kalypuya lore and interviews.
