Henrique Honoré Dumont [1] (July 20, 1832 in Diamantina – August 30, 1892 in Rio de Janeiro) was a Brazilian engineer, [2] coffee farmer and father of Alberto Santos-Dumont. Sep 16, 2020 · Henrique Dumont was an extremely savvy businessman. He pioneered many coffee farming techniques, which eventually made him the “Coffee King of Brazil”. Dumont showed his son these techniques several times. As a child, Santos-Dumont was obsessed with the farm’s machinery.

Voltando o Brasil passou a prestar serviços a Prefeitura de Ouro Preto.

A son of French immigrants, he is considered one of the three kings of the coffee of his time, introducing modern methods to coffee farming.
With 60-year-old Henrique's health worsening, he tried to return to France but died in Rio de Janeiro on August 30, 1892. This was a severe emotional blow to young Alberto, but following the advice of his father, he moved to Paris in the same year, dedicating himself to his studies and initiating experiments with balloons.
