Henry Hathaway (March 13, 1898 – February 11, 1985) was an American film director and producer. He is best known as a director of Westerns, especially starring Randolph Scott and John Wayne. He directed Gary Cooper in seven films.
Henry Hathaway passed away on February 11, 1985, one month away from what would have been his 87th birthday on March 13. Following his death, he was interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California. At 14 he joined Universal Studios as a property boy but quit to work in juvenile roles. In WWI he was a gunnery instructor in the army.
