[1] Holly recorded prolifically before his death in a plane crash on February 3, 1959. He released three albums in his lifetime. Coral Records was able to release archival new albums and singles for 10 years after his death, but their technical quality was mixed, some being studio recordings and others home recordings.

Giant was the second last of the official `New' releases of the overdubbed demo performances from Buddy Holly after his death and like 'Showcase' and 'Holly In The Hills', the other overdubs, is for the fan's collection.

The fourth of five posthumous Buddy Holly albums issued by Coral Records, Giant finds ex-Cricket producer, Norman Petty, once again blowing the dust of Buddy’s old demo tapes while his new band, The Fireballs, trudge along. I believe I have credited another Buddy Holly album in this series as the biggest catastrophe.

Holly in the Hills is third of five posthumous Buddy Holly LP’s issued by Coral Records. It contains a couple of b-sides, an outtake and one of Buddy’s “Apartment Demos”, but eight of its twelve tracks are demos recorded prior to Buddy’s professional recording career in 1955.
