He and Doc Holliday would scare away the "robbers," Earp said, and no one would get hurt. Clanton refused to take part, and bad blood continued to accumulate between the two factions.

June 1, 1887. Ike Clanton is murdered by Jonas V. Brighton, near Springerville, Arizona. Ike was 40 years old.
