Ingolstadt (German: [ˈɪŋɡɔlˌʃtat] ⓘ, Austro-Bavarian: [ˈɪŋl̩ʃtɔːd]) is an independent city on the Danube in Upper Bavaria with 139,553 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2022). Around half a million people live in the metropolitan area.
Ingolstadt, city, Bavaria Land (state), southern Germany. It lies along the Danube and Schutter rivers, southwest of Regensburg. First mentioned in 806 as a crown estate, villa Ingoldestat, it was chartered in 1250 and became a ducal seat in 1392.
