Nov 23, 2010 · Actress Ingrid Pitt, who became famous for playing voluptuous vampires in the Hammer Horror films of the 1970s, has died aged 73. She collapsed in London last week while on her way to an event hosted by members of her fan club, her daughter said. The Polish-born star began her career on the stage in East Germany before coming to Britain.
21 November 1937 to 23 November 2010. An actress whose name was synonymous with Hammer horror films, Pitt first came to notice in Where Eagles Dare (1968). She subsequently played the lead in The Vampire Lovers (1970) and Countess Dracula (1971), also featuring in The House That Dripped Blood (1971) and cult favourite The Wicker Man (1973).
