The film opens with the 1215 CE, Magna Carter (MC) “Great Charter of Liberties” (the foundation of the US Constitution) and the remainder is what happens up to and during the siege of Rochester Castle. From what I witnessed the film has much historic grounding and feel some of it was filmed at Rochester Castle 25 Kms to the east of London.

This is not a perfect film, where it excells in action, it falls in dialogue, however, if a two hour midevial action /adventure film is your cup of tea, Ironclad is your movie!!

Mar 11, 1991 · That was a very interesting episode in the US Civil War when two huge ironclads, Merrimack and Monitor, clashed nearby the Cpnfederate coast, where the Union Navy was blockading the land. This TV film is rather simple as for special effects, but still, they are very well done for this decent take.
