There’s a ton of great places you can live in LA on that budget that are diverse. I recommend east LA (look at any of the east LA neighborhoods near I5) Venice, Culver City, Silver lake, Highland Park. Valley. Im from Chi. Nothing quite like Evanston, but more diverse in general than most of rest of LA.
