Discussion. Obviously not a Ghibli movie, but certainly one of the most "Ghibli-adjacent" movies ever made. Finally watched this after putting it off forever. When Marnie Was There is my favorite Ghibli movie but I always heard Mary and the Witch's Flower, the follow-up from Marnie director Hiromasa Yonebayashi, wasn't great.

Anyone who watched Mary and The Witch's Flower? I felt it was ok in terms of the story and characters-i liked its Ghibli-esque animation style and the music. Although it's not a Ghibli movie, it reall looked like one, though it really lacked the main aspects of a Ghibli movie, such as depth, a cast of unique characters, a good storyline, etc ...
May 2, 2024 · The 2D animation in “Mary and the Witch’s Flower” (Meari to majo no hana) is beautiful, colorful, bright and engaging from start to finish. Apr 28, 2024 · Also good news: Universal Studios Home Entertainment and GKids are releasing the anime Mary and the Witch’s Flower on Blu-ray and DVD on 5/1. The film was directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi (The Secret World of Arrietty and When Marnie Was There), formerly of Studio Ghibli.
