  4. It’s not really the same. Moldova was part of Moldavia, which joined Wallachia to form Romania, for centuries, and Moldovans and Romanians speak basically the same language. Moldova exists just because Russia chopped it off from what’s now Romania in 1812 (?) and again in 1940 and 1944. It’s more like East Germany was to West Germany.
