In 1984, Jack was elected to the Rhode Island state senate and served for three terms prior to his election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Rhode Island’s 2 nd Congressional District. During his tenure in the House from 1991 to 1997, Reed championed child health care, public libraries, and campaign finance reform.
John Francis Reed GOIH (born November 12, 1949) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Rhode Island, a seat he was first elected to in 1996.
