Jan 30, 2024 · Australia’s James Carew won the 2023 Qatar Airways GKA Big Air Kite Surfboard World Championship, giving him a third title. But right after his win last June, he suffered a broken leg and ligament damage when his kite lines broke during a jump and he landed badly in shallow water.

James Usselman [1] (February 5, 1876 – April 4, 1938), known professionally as James Carew, was an American actor who appeared in many films, mainly in Britain. He was born in Goshen, Indiana in 1876 and began work as a clerk in a publishing firm. He began acting on stage in Chicago in 1897 in Damon and Pythias .
In 2021 a new GKA Kitesurf World Champion was crowned, James Carew from Australia had knocked his idols off the top spot and now found himself on the top of the food chain in the kitesurfing world, winning the GKA KITE WORLD TOUR world title. In 2022 James had to ask himself, “What do you do when you achieve your childhood dreams?”

Teaming up with the legendary Airton Cozzolino, James continues to push the boundaries of strapless kitesurfing. Despite facing setbacks, like his injury in 2023, James's resolve remains unshaken.
