Janice Schakowsky (/ ʃ ə ˈ k aʊ s k i / shə-KOW-skee; née Danoff; born May 26, 1944) is an American politician who has served as the U.S. representative from Illinois's 9th congressional district since 1999. She is a member of the Democratic Party.
