Jaron R. Summers (born 7 March 1942; age 82) is an author and screenwriter who received writing credit for the Star Trek: The Next Generation second season episode "The Child" along with Jon Povill and Maurice Hurley. This episode was based on the original script of the same name which Summers co-wrote with Povill for the abandoned Star Trek: Phase II. The story was also revisited in the 2012 fan series Star Trek New Voyages: Phase II.
Other television shows which Summers has written for include The Incredible Hulk, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, CHiPs, Hart to Hart, and Miami Vice. He also adapted his own novel, The Soda Cracker, for a 1989 film starring and directed by Fred Williamson. More recently, he co-wrote the 1992 film Killer Image.
