"JAWS III" (aka "JAWS 3-D"), picks up where "JAWS 2" left off, sort of. "2" was originally released in 1978 and this one came out in 1983, so I'm guessing that 5 years has supposedly passed between the two films (no reference in passage of time is mentioned in the movie).
