    Early life

    Crawford was first introduced to Dungeons & Dragons by his sister when he was aged six. He became an avid D&D player, starting with Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 1st edition in elementary school. In junior high he was exceptionally fond of the Dragonlance novel Dragons of Autumn Twilight. In high school once ran a 48-hour D&D LARP,and began developing his own homebrew campaign setting.     Early roleplaying game works

    Crawford edited the d20 System sourcebook The Book of Fiends (2003) by Green Ronin Publishing. In 2005, he worked on Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. In 2005, Crawford was lead developer on the Blue Rose roleplaying game, by Green Ronin Publishing. It won a silver ENNie for Best Rules that year, and worked on subsequent rulebooks for that system.
