Jerry Birn (1923 – December 5, 2009) was an American television soap opera writer. He was married to actress Patty Weaver from 1994 until his death aged 86; his daughter is Laura Bryan Birn. Both his wife and his daughter appeared on The Young and the Restless.
Mini Bio. Born in Chicago, Illinois on March 23, 1923, Birn stayed close to his home town for all his life. He attended DePaul University on a scholarship. After graduating, he moved to New York to pursue a career in acting, but soon found himself back in Chicago and working as a copy-writer for the advertising agency McCann Erickson.

Dec 8, 2009 · Jerry Birn, former writer and story consultant for BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL and YOUNG AND RESTLESS, died in his sleep on Dec. 5. He was 86. Birn's wife, Patty Weaver Birn (Gina, Y&R), was by his side when he passed away on what was also the date of their 15th wedding anniversary.
