James Albert Varney Jr. (June 15, 1949 – February 10, 2000) was an American actor and comedian. He is best known for his comedic role as Ernest P. Worrell , for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award , as well as appearing in films and numerous television commercial advertising campaigns.
Jim Varney was a versatile and popular actor who created the iconic character of Ernest P. Worrell in commercials, TV shows and movies. He also voiced Cookie in Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Slinky Dog in Toy Story.
