Joe Glauberg (Born 1944) is an American Screenwriter who was responsible for the episode of 'My Favorite Orkan', and as such is the creator of the character of Mork from Ork. And is credited as a creator of the show for all 94 episodes of Mork & Mindy though he never actually wrote for it.

Joe Glauberg was born in 1944 and grew up in White Oak, Iowa, a 1962 graduate of North Polk High School. He lived with his family, which included a couple of older brothers, in a two-story building in White Oak that served as the Glauberg Store on the main floor and the family’s living quarters upstairs. By the time Joe graduated from high school, White Oak was merely a wide spot in the road about four miles south of Cambridge and very near the Polk/Story county line. Still, there were two stores. Directly across the street from the Glauberg Store was another, owned by a family named Worrell, featuring the only gas pump in White Oak.

After he graduated from high school, Joe headed off to the University of Missouri in Columbia where he earned his degree before taking his talents to Hollywood.

Glauberg grew up Jewish, and during his time in Hollywood, converted to Christianity, and appeared in the early 1980s on an episode of the 700 Club, a flagship television program on CBN.

In the late 80s he moved back to Iowa, and pretty much given up on hopes to return to writing scripts in Hollywood. reportedly saying at the time, “Hollywood just doesn’t want Christian writers.”

His first writing credits came in 1972 on Garry Marshall's Odd Couple, before going on to work on other Marshall shows, Happy Days and Blansky's Beauties as well as others like Busting Loose (1977), The Love Boat and Rocky Road.

He served as Script Consultant on Happy Days for 22 episodes from 1975 - 1976, then as (story consultant - 3 episodes, 1976 - 1977) (story editor - 5 episodes, 1976 - 1977) and Executive story consultant - 9 episodes, 1977 - 1978). From 1976-82 he also produced 2 teleplays and wrote 8 episodes of the show, one of which was My Favorite Orkan, in which he created the character of Mork.

Arguably, Joe’s greatest TV claim to fame came when the idea of “Mork” formed in his mind, and he wrote the episode in which “Mork” was introduced to television audiences when he first came to earth to take Richie back with him to Ork, bringing him into conflict with Fonzie.

Though he never actually wrote for the show itself, continuing to write for “Happy Days”, he is credited as a creator for “Mork and Mindy” throughout it's entire run.
