Joe Henderson (April 24, 1937 – June 30, 2001) was an American jazz tenor saxophonist. In a career spanning more than four decades, Henderson played with many of the leading American players of his day and recorded for several prominent labels, including Blue Note, Milestone, and Verve.
Nov 4, 2023 · Born in 1937, Joe Henderson emerged in the 1960s as a distinctive voice on the tenor saxophone, recording extensively as a leader and a sideman for Blue Note. Many of his compositions have become standards, most notably the jazz Bossa Nova ‘ Recorda Me ’, which he wrote as a teenager.
