Jun 13, 2017 · John Friedmann, internationally renowned pioneer in urban theory and planning and a central figure in the founding of what is today the Department of Urban Planning at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, died Sunday in Vancouver, B.C., June 11, 2017, following a short illness. He was 91.
John Friedmann is one of the pioneering urban theorists of the late twentieth century. He founded the Graduate School of Architecture and Planning at UCLA in the late 1960. He is famous for his analysis of world city formation.
John N. Friedman is an economist who currently works as Professor of Economics and International and Political Affairs at Brown University, co-directs Opportunity Insights, and is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research.
