Early years [ edit ] Lee was born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Jacqueline ( née Shelton), a teacher of arts and black literature, and William James Edward Lee III , a jazz musician, bassist, actor and composer.
Joie Lee is a Brooklyn-born performer who has appeared in films by her brother Spike Lee, such as Do the Right Thing and Crooklyn. She has also written and produced several projects, including All the Invisible Children and Da Sweet Blood of Jesus.
