Apr 16, 2022 · Taking their name from the two detectives in the cartoon adventures of Tinin (Thompson and Thompson, who were not twins!) Tom Bailey (B.1954), Peter Dodd, John Roog and Jon Podgorski spent many years floating about and playing in bars and clubs.
Tom Bailey on bass and vocals, Pete Dodd on guitar and vocals, John Roog on guitar, and Jon Podgorski (known as “Pod”) on drums comprised the original Thompson Twins lineup in 1977. Dodd and Roog met for the first time when they were both thirteen years old.

Bailey formed Thompson Twins in 1977 with guitarists Pete Dodd and John Roog, together with drummer Jon Podgorski. The group eventually ended up as a trio with Bailey on vocals, guitar, bass, and keyboards, his then girlfriend Alannah Currie (percussion, saxophone, and vocals), and Joe Leeway (percussion and vocals).
