ALBANY — Joseph Edward Purcell of Albany, a long-time educational leader in the Guilderland schools, died peacefully on Monday, June 21, 2021, after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease and cancer. He was 84. “It took two of the world’s worst diseases to get the better of Joe,” his family wrote in a tribute.
