The Kanheri Caves (Kānherī-guhā [kaːnʱeɾiː ɡuɦaː]) are a group of caves and rock-cut monuments cut into a massive basalt outcrop in the forests of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, on the island of Salsette in the western outskirts of Mumbai, India.

Kanheri Caves is a collection of 109 caves carved out of black basalt rock on a hillside within the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. It was a Buddhist monastery and a learning centre in the 1st and 2nd century BCE. You can see paintings and statues of Buddha, waterfalls, streams and streams. The caves are open every day except on Mondays and have an entry fee of 15 or 200 rupees.

They contain relief carvings, inscriptions, sculptures, and paintings dating back to between 1 and 11 century AD.
