The Knights' War, also known as the Imperial Knights' Revolt, (27 August 1522 – 6 May 1523) was a failed attempt by the Brotherly Convention (of knights) led by the Evangelical knight Franz von Sickingen to forcibly remove Prince-bishop Richard of Trier and secularize his lands. The short-lived war resulted in the death of Sickingen and inspired the German Peasants' War of 1524–1526. Wikipedia
