Knyszyn [ˈknɨʂɨn] (Belarusian: Кнышин, Yiddish: קנישין, romanized: Knishin, Lithuanian: Knišinas) is a town in north-eastern Poland, 26 kilometres (16 miles) northwest of Białystok. It is situated in the Podlaskie Voivodeship (since 1999), and was formerly in the Białystok Voivodeship (1975-1998).

Knyszynska Forest. Knyszynska Forest - a large forest complex (more than a thousand square kilometers) located on the Podlaskie Voivodeship. Among the trees dominate pine and spruce, and there are also birch, alder and oak. Beside elk, deer, roe deer, wild boar, badger, beaver, there are rare species such as the lynx and wolf.
More than two hundred years later, the Jews of Knyszyn obtained permission to establish a cemetery on the former royal dykes. It is now one of Poland’s most picturesque graveyards. The king’s first documented visit to his Knyszyn estate took place in 1532.
