This beautiful Medieval town in Northern Germany made a great “lay-over” spot between a city tour of Hamburg and our big day of hiking in the Lüneburger Heide. Lüneburg’s charm comes from it’s well-preserved Altstadt, along with a calming effect from being a Kur-Ort.
Lüneburg is situated between Hamburgand Hanover, so it makes for a very easy day trip for anyone travelling around Northern Germany. The town is small enough that visitors can cover most of the tourist attractions in one day. However, for travellers with more time, it’s a great 2-3 day destination.
