The theater includes handmade and painted floor tiles that were created by Claycraft Potteries in Los Angeles. Current use. Still in use as a movie theater today, La Paloma is also a venue for live performances and artists such as Loreena McKennitt, Nickel Creek, Ralph Stanley, Jerry Garcia and Eddie Vedder have performed there.
The La Paloma is of a dying breed. It's been around for 96 years, and is one of the very last single screen theaters still in existence. You can feel its presence and soul when inside. I came to an 8pm showing of "Waterman," the Duke Kahanamoku documentary, and was the sole patron. There wasn't a single other person in the theater.
