It is part of the narrow, linear Metacomet Ridge that extends from Long Island Sound near New Haven, Connecticut, north through the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts to the Vermont border.

  4. Description. This loop hike passes numerous overlooks with long scenic views from the traprock ridges of Chauncey Peak and Lamentation Mountain. It also passes Crescent Lake and a historic canal in the gap between the ridges. Park at popular Giuffrida Park and get ready for a steep ascent to 688 foot Chauncey Peak.
