"The Society Party" is the first episode of Laverne & Shirley. Written by Bob Brunner, the episode, which was directed by series creator and executive producer Garry Marshall, the brother of series co-star Penny Marshall (who plays Laverne DeFazio), the series made its network premiere on ABC-TV on January 27, 1976.
Laverne and Shirley are invited by Tad Shotz, the nephew of the girls' boss at Shotz Brewery, to a formal society party.
The girls, Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney, who are both employed at Shotz Brewery, mingle at a party being thrown by their boss's family. Henry Winkler guest stars as Fonzie from Happy Days.

Laverne did have family from New York, still. I loved the chemistry between these two and the intro to Lenny and Squiggy was pretty well developed from the start. And, of course, The Fonz to help kick off this new spinoff of Happy Days.
